The Legal Committee supported the termination of the procedure for the election of the Prosecutor General, but in practice left Borislav Sarafov as acting.

We recall that with 22 votes the Committee on Legal Affairs in the National Assembly voted to suspend the procedure for the election of the Prosecutor General.
"The procedures initiated under Art. 173, para. 1, which have not been concluded with a presidential decree on appointment by the date of promulgation of this law, shall be terminated", states the adopted paragraph quoted by BNT.
A text of the transitional and final provisions was also adopted, according to which, within six months of the entry into force of this law, the National Assembly and the judicial authorities shall begin a procedure for a new election of members of the Supreme Judicial Council.
The deputies from the committee considered the amendments to the Judiciary Act at second reading today. This is happening two days before the final day of the procedure for the election of the Prosecutor General. The only candidate for the position is the current Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov.
Last week, the deputies adopted at first reading all three bills for amendments related to the election of a new Prosecutor General. They include the termination of the initiated procedures for the election of Prosecutor No. 1 and the President of the Supreme Administrative Court. The three bills were merged into one.
