There is no information about a change in the security environment at the Bulgarian borders as a result of the conflicts in the Middle East. This was announced by Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov after a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Ali Yerlikaya and the Minister of Migration and Asylum of Greece Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos:
"We have no data to be worried about, to have reasons to be worried about the security environment deteriorating. But, regardless of this, all processes are being monitored, every incoming information and every change in the situation in the Middle East is being analyzed, so that we can plan our subsequent actions, so that we can be adequate in our reactions".
Atanas Ilkov added that our country guarantees stability at the external borders of the EU and Schengen.
"We will guarantee a stable environment for security at the external borders of the EU, in Bulgaria, in the entire Schengen area. This is the sign that we are giving on the basis of the good cooperation with Turkey and the commitments that they have made to us and to our colleagues for an effective counteraction to these processes, so that our work will be easier in controlling the migration processes along the Bulgarian-Turkish border".
