The New Year came with higher prices for electricity and gas. A number of essential products also have new prices. This is happening against the backdrop of the still unadopted state budget.
To date, we are in violation of the Public Finance Act by two and a half months. That is why we reacted sharply last week, when the points for the state budget were dropped in parliament. It takes 4 to 6 weeks for the budget to be adopted. People have to take their salaries retroactively. This must be explained”, commented in the “Interview in NOVA News” the chief economist of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions, Dr. Lyuboslav Kostov.
He explained that monetary policy is a function of the governor of the BNB, and fiscal policy is the function of the executive branch.
„The deputies adopted these laws, promising teachers, people in higher education and civil servants that there would be an income policy, such as the one in the private sector”, said Dr. Kostov.
„We are worried about the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions. We have always supported business and have argued that it should be supported. The state should act through expenses, not through revenues,”, he also believes.
