Over the week, speculation gained momentum that powerful shady people are against entering the Eurozone because they hold huge amounts of leva that they have not converted. There was even a dispute about authorship - who was the first to say it. This was the case years ago, when I also advocated this thesis.
Not anymore. At least the big players have long converted the leva mainly into euros, gold or property, as can be seen from this photo from 2020. In crypto too. They are not stupid. And we cannot simultaneously claim that Peevski controls the entire country (which is largely true) and at the same time have a problem converting his leva. One of the two cannot be the case. And I am betting on the second. Not to mention that we will be able to convert our leva for many years after entering the eurozone. Last month, for example, I sold Estonian kroons at a Bulgarian exchange office.
If we look at the statistics, we will see that the percentage of real estate transactions with mortgage loans is constantly growing, up to 70% of all. That is, money laundering through hand payments has also passed its peak. Not that it has not yet disappeared, but it will continue with euros.
The delay in the report is, on the one hand, related to the notorious 0.15% default. On the other hand, with the ego of Borisov, who wants to take all the laurels from entering the Eurozone without sharing them with a working cabinet. On the other hand, to portray the situation as very serious, to blame the previous ones, as well as to justify spending cuts or tax increases. In any case, there is much more politicking than realism.
