Heavy rain caused a disaster in the village of Smilets yesterday.
This was written by the mayor of Silistra, Alexander Sabanov, on his Facebook profile, quoted by BNT.
"A significant amount of rain fell over the village of Smilets tonight," the mayor wrote.
The village canal has overflowed. Although it was cleaned last year, the water from the fields is flowing down and flooding people's yards with mud, Sabanov specifies.
Teams from the Fire Safety and Protection of the Population in Disasters and Accidents arrived on site and provided assistance in controlling the situation. Pumping of water from residents' yards has begun.
"Together with the mayor of the village, Maria Dimitrova, we went around all the residents and made sure that there were no people in distress. All houses have electricity," the mayor wrote.
