The Bulgarian army was glorious when Bulgaria was a country governed by wise people, by patriotic people. A country that had a clear cause, a clear goal, built institutions and was held up in Europe as an example to follow in terms of economy, army, education, everything.
And when you have a glorious country, of course you also have a strong and glorious army. When Bulgaria is in this miserable situation, and for decades now, we can hardly talk about a glorious present and even less about a glorious or normal future.
This was what the leader of VMRO, Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security and Minister of Defense in the third government of Boyko Borissov, told FOCUS – from 2017 to 2021 Krassimir Karakachanov.
"The Bulgarian soldier still stands guard today, as sung in the restored anthem of the army "Great is our soldier", unfortunately not on Ohrid. On Ohrid and on Lake Ohrid, the representatives of a country that is hostile to Bulgaria, unfortunately. But this is again due to the characterless, weak and impersonal Bulgarian policy of the last 30 years."
According to him, the Bulgarian Army has equipment and, according to him, it is bewildering why the parade on the occasion of the Day of Bravery and the Holiday of the Bulgarian Army was so meager and symbolic. "Bulgaria lacks political thought and a political elite. Our so-called "political elite" lacks patriotism and courage. And from there follows everything else in the army, in education, in the war on the roads and crime. But it all starts with the lack of will, courage and some clear cause in the heads of our politicians. They simply have no cause", he pointed out. According to him, the basis of the rulers should be the care for the people, starting with healthcare, and going through education, which should educate young people in the spirit of patriotism and the great battles of the Bulgarian Army. "When people are not educated, because the younger generations are not educated in the appropriate spirit, patriotic, national, Christian, Bulgarian, they lose their identity."
"Two weeks ago, a debate began and ended about Christian education in school. And then some people who talk to us about values were against children being literate about Christianity, which created us, preserved us as a people and raised us as a culture and civilization. Today, these people are also explaining how the Bulgarian pilots leaked the information, leaked the software of the American plane and gave it to the Russians. These are people with a criminal mindset and people without any national responsibility. Botev calls such people mother-sellers who are ready to sell everything, to deny everything for a small fee. And when you spit, slander the Bulgarian Army, you demotivate the Bulgarian soldier. And tomorrow, if he has to fight, who will go? " he asked and explained that this killing of the soldier's spirit is the great crime that is being committed, because when there is no spirit, the security and future of Bulgaria are threatened.
