This is a lawful action. We are a constructive opposition to this government, because for our coalition and for the community we represent, the eurozone is the most important priority. We are working with all our might to make this happen so that it can be the last brick in Bulgaria's European membership. This was said in the program "Face to Face" on BTV by the leader of the DSB and co-chairman of "Democratic Bulgaria" Gen. Atanas Atanasov, after this afternoon the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova returned as inadmissible the proposal of President Rumen Radev with a request for a referendum on the country's entry into the eurozone.
The president's request initially surprised me, but later I realized that this is a multifunctional active event. Many goals are being pursued, said Gen. Atanasov.
The first goal that I saw is clear from a statement by "Vazrazhdane", which says: "After our diplomatic efforts, President Radev received instructions from abroad". President Radev has always given reason to suspect that he is protecting Russian interests. With this move, public attention was riveted and diverted from other problems, such as the "Botas" scandal. This is a lucrative deal for Bulgaria, we pay 1 million for this contract every day. This somehow remained aside. In addition, the president began to worry about what was happening in SANS, because the current chairman began to take it away from him and this channel for information could be closed to him. These are circumstances that have probably accumulated a lot of tension, the DSB leader pointed out.
More importantly, Radev has publicly stated that this referendum is unacceptable. And Now the question is who pushed the president's button - did he push it himself or was it pushed by forces from outside and inside? Another point is that it seems that Radev is preparing for elections and concentrating all Russophile forces, noted Gen. Atanas Atanasov.
Radev is a very rational person, there is no emotion in the whole thing. Everything is very well thought out and this is truly a multifunctional active event, the DSB leader emphasized.
He explained that the heads of the services will be heard in the commission for control over the special services due to the scandal with the first Bulgarian F-16 fighter jet.
Taking into account the heavy sentences that a court in London issued against the six Bulgarians for espionage in favor of Russia, I suspect sabotage in the creation of the security systems. We need to check if someone tampered with this plane. It could really be a technical problem, but since there are doubts about society, we must take all actions to establish the truth, said Gen. Atanasov.
In response to a question about how long "Democratic Bulgaria" will support the government, he said: "Until we enter the eurozone - not only to get a date, but to effectively enter. After that, we will fight, but this priority is very important for Bulgarian citizens and therefore we will temporarily put aside the contradictions".
