A procession will be held in the capital today in support of the introduction of a mandatory elective religion class in schools.
Supporters of the MES proposal will gather at 12 noon in front of the "St. Alexander Nevsky" monument.
The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church announced on its official website that it supports the procession: "Virtues and Religion in Schools" and called on all Orthodox Christians and all people to join it.
The chairman of the "Conservative Society" foundation and the "Month of the Family" association Christian Škvarek stated that the opportunity for Bulgarian students to study religion is not provided as an opportunity to the majority of them.
