Specialists in museums and art galleries will protest symbolically today.
The action is organized by the National Federation "Culture" at the "Podkrepa" Confederation of Bulgarian Artists under the slogan: "For Decent Remuneration".
The symbolic protest is on the eve of the European Night of Museums and the International Museum Day, which has been celebrated on May 18 for 20 years.
Specialists in museums and galleries said that they will open their doors even wider to all for whom Bulgarian culture still means something. Visitors will recognize them by the distinctive protest ribbons on their lapels.
According to trade unionists, the average gross salary in the sector is 1,619 leva.
The main demand is that the salaries of museum and gallery workers be increased by a certain percentage every year, starting in 2025, so that they gradually reach the level of 125% of the average salary for the country, as is done in the "Education" sector.
Another demand is that their sectoral collective agreement be signed as soon as possible, and that the single cost standard for subsidized numbers of state museums, art galleries, the Center for Underwater Archaeology, the "Palace" Cultural Center be increased by 20%. and the Bulgarian National Film Library, regional museums and galleries, as well as to introduce a single cost standard for the maintenance of the remaining 50 museums, which are still financed as local activities.
The National Federation "Culture" at the "Podkrepa" Confederation of Bulgarian Cultural Associations warns that if the demands are not heard, effective nationwide strike action will be taken.
