The time for talk is over. The actions of the commission will be decisive for consumers. There is no market that is stronger than the state. Our goal is to prevent price increases before the adoption of the euro. We are here to protect the little guy. This was stated in an interview with BNT by the new chairman of the Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC), Rosen Karadimov.
During the conversation, Karadimov called on the public several times to give him a month to see the first results of the regulator's work.
Starting today, we are already monitoring prices and this is just the beginning. A separate auxiliary body to the CPC will be created for rapid sectoral analyses, Karadimov specified.
He explained that the commission he heads cannot regulate market prices, but it can regulate unfair trade practices. In this regard, he stressed that he will ask the CPC to receive additional powers, but what exactly - in his words, this will become clear after a thorough analysis.
The CPC has many tasks, because we are entering a key moment - 6 months before our accession to the eurozone. For the first time, the CPC finds itself in an extreme situation related to people's fears of rising prices. But there are two factors for the rise in prices: inflation and speculation. While the government is the one dealing with inflation, speculation at this point would be looting in its ugliest form. We will not allow any looting of people, in this regard we will be uncompromising, Rosen Karadimov threatened.
