A national meeting of the Ministry of Interior will be held today with the participation of all regional directorates. The meeting will identify measures to improve road control and the effectiveness of checks, BNT reports.
Late last night, intensified checks by the Sofia police on the Ring Road began - the focus was on drivers without licenses and those who have used alcohol and drugs, "Around the World and in Our Country" learned.
The action is part of a campaign against road injuries. On-site checks were carried out with breathalyzers and drug tests. The checks will continue in the coming days.
Against this backdrop, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov gave the "Traffic Police", the toll administration and the State Road Safety Agency one month to improve road control or they will be restructured.
The work of the Road Safety Coordination Center must also be restored within a month. And the task of coordination between the institutions has been assigned to Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadjov.
