“BSP – OL will support the decision of the National Assembly on the progress of RSM in the EU accession process. It is important to show the world and our European partners and the USA that Bulgaria has a unified foreign policy and when a commitment is made, it must be implemented“. This was stated by the chairman of the PG of “BSP – UNITED LEFT” Dragomir Stoynev in the plenary hall. He was categorical that today we must be united and does not accept any attacks, because the problem is not in Bulgaria, but from outside. The socialist recalled Prime Minister Mickovski's mockery of the Bulgarians and his calls for a stable government in our country, with which he could negotiate. “There is already such a government, there is a working parliament and our national interest will be protected“, the MP emphasized. Stoynev commented that the fact that Mickovski and President Siljanovska call their country the Republic of Macedonia shows how much they respect their agreement with Greece.
Dragomir Stoynev emphasized that the problem is extremely serious and periods of deterioration in relations alternate with those of efforts to find a common dialogue. He explained that it all started with the appearance on the scene of Nikola Gruevski, who has littered Skopje with historical monuments in an attempt to steal someone else's history and has played a role in worsening relations with Bulgaria.
“We must understand that Bulgaria's biggest ally in this dispute is the EU. It is easy to say that Bulgaria should leave the union, to beat our chests about how we defend everything native. The truth, however, is that in these diplomatic relations Bulgaria needs allies,“ said the socialist. According to him, the role of the proposed “French Consensus“ is significant – it has led to some solution that all European countries agree with. He stated that he is not convinced that if our country had not been a member of the EU, all these countries would have been on our side.
Stoynev emphasized that during the time of Prime Minister Zaev, there was a significant improvement in relations with our country, as it should have been, because he realized the need for the European development of the RSM. According to him, this cannot be said about the relations between the two countries, since Micovski took over the post of Prime Minister, which led to their drastic deterioration. “The agreements of the French presidency, but also of the EU Council from July 2022 are not recognized“, emphasized the chairman of the PG of the Left.
According to him, not only the EU foreign affairs representative Kaia Kallas, but also Austria has a strange diplomacy that must be closely monitored. In his words, it is almost suggested that Vienna should be the place where negotiations between our two countries should be held. “Our line, both as a parliament and as a government, must be that there is no other plan for Bulgaria - what has been agreed and supported by all European countries must be implemented by the RSM. Since it is explained to us that there are no Bulgarians there, I ask Prime Minister Micovski why over 100,000 Bulgarian passports have been issued. These people feel their Bulgarian identity and we must support them“, Stoynev was categorical. According to him, there should be talks, but with such behavior of nationalists, extremists in one country, they can not only worsen relations with neighboring countries, but also erase the future of an entire generation, which is not to blame for anything.
