It has been a public secret in Bulgaria for years that the security services are not functioning optimally. Because, due to a combination of circumstances, in recent years they have been turned into instruments for maintaining the political status quo and are losing focus. Namely, ensuring internal security in our country. This was commented on the air of “Wake up” Andrei Tsekov, former regional minister and MP from PP-DB.
“I believe that the current situation is indicative of what is happening in the country. Mr. Peevski is one by one turning all the security institutions into his personal satraps. The same is happening with SANS. Let's follow who currently heads it. This is Deputy Chairman Denyo Denev. A man who has an interesting career. It starts from the time when there was a criminal prosecution against Desislava Ivancheva and Bilyana Petrova. Subsequently, he became infamous for interfering with the machine vote in the local elections in Sofia. It is a public secret that he is Mr. Peevski's favorite. Apparently, the previous director Plamen Tonchev was forced to retire and find refuge in a relatively very significant commission,” claims Tsenokv.
According to him, Daniel Mitov has shown that he cannot manage the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
„Is it because of the lack of professional qualities, since he is not a cadre of the system. I rather attribute it to the fact that he does not actually manage this ministry. It is managed by its professional staff, which is largely selected personally by Peevski,” the MP explained.
Regarding the escalation of tension in the Middle East, Tsekov said that the government takes care of our fellow citizens there.
„Honestly, I believe that the Bulgarian government, regardless of any historical moment, has always taken care to protect the interests and integrity of Bulgarian citizens abroad. I have no reason to believe that at the current moment the government is doing less”, he concluded.
Regarding the vote of no confidence, Tsekov said that the topic will be discussed on July 12 at the national meeting of „We continue the change”.
„It is difficult to find a policy in which the government has done well. There are many topics - internal order and security, justice system, healthcare, budget," he emphasized.
In his words, after July 8, the process of our entry into the eurozone cannot be stopped, it can only be made a fuss about this. This is how Tsekov answered the question whether this vote could sabotage the adoption of the currency from January 1, 2026 in our country.
