The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that after intensive and round-the-clock efforts of our diplomatic team in Tehran, two Bulgarian citizens were successfully evacuated from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, FOCUS reported.
The citizens crossed the Iranian-Azerbaijani border with the help of employees from the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Tehran. Thanks to good coordination with the local authorities and the Bulgarian mission, they are already in Azerbaijan, from where they will leave for Bulgaria.
The Ministry expresses its gratitude to the entire team of our Embassy in Tehran for the professionalism, dedication and quick actions in a complex operational situation. They also thank the partner institutions in the region for their assistance and support in carrying out the evacuation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains in constant contact with Bulgarian citizens and their relatives, and will continue to take all necessary actions to protect Bulgarian citizens abroad.
