6,000 leva for a head chef and 5,000 leva for a grill master – hoteliers and restaurateurs on the Black Sea Coast pay attractive salaries in an attempt to secure qualified staff. Most, however, rely on cheaper staff from abroad.
Opening doors amid a deep staffing crisis is proving to be a challenge for the management of one of the new hotels in Obzor. They have been searching for suitable staff all over the country for months, bTV reports.
“The people who work for us are well above the average salary for seasonal establishments, we try to more or less follow the standard of Sofia. Salaries range from 3 to 6,000 leva. In order to have quality people who can lead properly, they must be properly stimulated – this is one of the ways", explained Hristo Evtimov.
At the upper limit of the salary is the head chef Nikolay Ninov. He has 24 years of experience behind him and is satisfied that his skills have been appreciated.
“The work that a staff of our caliber does is much more than just sitting behind the stoves. We are responsible for deliveries, we are responsible for regulating the price of food, we are responsible for all the staff in the kitchen, we monitor products, we also bear financial responsibility", explained Ninov.
