Over 100 students in Veliko Tarnovo are protesting. The reason for their dissatisfaction is the drastic increase in semester fees for the new academic year at the city university. A meeting was also held between the dissatisfied and the management.
The University of Veliko Tarnovo is one of the 19 with increased fees, and the reason is a new formula by which they are calculated.
The increase in the price of paid tuition reaches 4-5,000 leva for some specialties, such as theology and fine arts. There is also a jump in pedagogy training.
The students insist that the fees be maintained. The management stated that they are applying the law, but with this formula for forming the fees, they become unrealistically high and unaffordable for a large part of the students.
