A large fire is raging in the Karnobat region. According to information from Mayor Georgi Dimitrov, the fire is spreading over a large front - about 10 km. Pine forest and low shrub vegetation are burning, Nova TV reports.
On site, fire departments from Karnobat, Aytos and Kameno are extinguishing the fire, with the goal of preventing the flames from reaching the outer buildings of the city. The regional governor of Burgas region Vladimir Krumov activated the national warning and early warning system BG-Alert for the first time.
A warning voice message was sent to citizens traveling in the Karnobat region, with information about a closed section of the Republican Road III-795 (southern entrance to the “Krasna Polyana“ quarter), due to a fire in the area. The message directs people to use detour routes and follow the instructions of the law enforcement agencies located on site.
The authorities emphasize that there is no reason to panic, as the system is used preventively for the purpose of a faster response and better information of citizens in emergency situations.
According to information from the Burgas Fire Department, the signal for the fire in a coniferous forest above the hospital in Karnobat was submitted at 11:35 a.m. Due to strong winds and high temperatures, the fire spread to dry grass and bushes. Teams from Karnobat, Aytos and Burgas, as well as two tractors, are working on site.
The Burgas regional administration assures that all competent institutions are acting in a coordinated manner and in the interest of people's safety.
