Nikola Barbutov and Petar Rafailov are expected to appeal their permanent arrest before the Sofia Court of Appeal, BNT reports. The former deputy mayor of Sofia and his advisor have been charged with participating in an organized criminal group for corruption crimes and offering bribes.
A week ago, the court remanded them in custody. According to the magistrates, there was evidence that the two committed the crimes they are accused of. The mayor of "Lyulin" was questioned again in the case, and he confirmed that the distributed recording between him and Nikola Barbutov was authentic, but denied that he had made the recording.
According to sources of "Around the World and at Home", the recording was made by the Anti-Corruption Commission, but in another investigation into corruption in the Sofia Municipality. Two employees from the district administrations in "Mladost" and "Lyulin" are also accused in the case, but they have been released on bail.
