After years of delays and inaction, one of the most key infrastructure projects for the Poduyane region — the extension of the Eastern Tangent from the Northern Expressway to "Vladimir Vazov" Blvd. - has already been issued a construction permit. This was announced by the mayor of the region, Eng. Kristiyan Hristov, and Boris Bonev - chairman of “Save Sofia”.
“On my initiative, we gathered all the parties involved and within two weeks we overcame the obstacles that had been hindering the project for more than a year,“ announced Eng. Hristov. “After years of excuses and unfinished work, these 500 meters, which will save a lot of time for the residents of this part of Sofia, can begin“, announced Boris Bonev.
Eng. Hristov added that at the suggestion of "Save Sofia" in the 2025 budget, 1 million leva have been allocated to start the construction of the boulevard and recalled that if it does not start this year, Sofia is threatened with losing the already expropriated properties through which the connection is designed.
According to Bonev, with good will and organization on the part of the municipal administration, by the end of the year the public procurement for the selection of a contractor may have already been carried out and actual construction activities may have begun.
“Everything is ready. There are no more excuses why this construction should not start this year. Mayor, it's your turn!“, Bonev concluded.
