There is parliamentary support for the eurozone, and only the government's self-sabotage can put a spoke in the wheels on the road to the eurozone. We are proposing a package of right-wing measures for more price transparency, and the government is proposing left-wing measures, said Bozhidar Bozhanov, leader of "Yes, Bulgaria", part of the PP-DB coalition, in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio.
"How will the state intervene in the agri-food chain with the law. This can lead to a rise in prices, because when you regulate markups, traders say "let's raise it now so that our profits don't decrease". We need measures for prices - more competition is more of a guarantee for prices. A package of measures is needed - pro-competitive and pro-market, to ensure the normal functioning of the market", explained Bojanov.
Regarding the resigned municipal councilor of the PP in Plovdiv - Nikolay Gyurov, he commented that he would not comment on the PP's internal party problems, despite being their partner:
"There has always been a discussion about "who is suitable" for personnel policy. For elective positions, we have had preferences for people from DSB and DB, but coalition decisions lead to what we see. We will not give Peevski and Borisov the pleasure of splitting the coalition. We are not in politics with the PP to be annoyed, but to achieve results."
Bozhanov admitted that they are having difficulties in the country with the lists for municipal councilors.
"The frustration of the colleague from Plovdiv is understandable. The PP itself admitted that Kiril Petkov's resignation is an indication that there were mistakes, especially in personnel policy," Bozanov added.
He explained that the mayors were given the opportunity to choose their own teams and this is unconventional, and this is not right.
"The parties must first look after themselves, I agree with Borisov's advice here. To comment on internal processes, even if it is our partners, I cannot say what to do and not to do. If there are personnel mistakes, let's take into account the fact that political and institutional experience is extremely important. To be politically adequate. In this sense, everyone who selects their team bears political responsibility, some of these mayors did not understand it", believes Bozhidar Bozhanov.
According to him, party financing should not depend on slush funds and public procurement:
"Such scandals have also occurred in Germany, and politicians have left because of slush funds. The PP claims that there is no such thing as a slush fund. We know that the deductions from public procurement did not appear yesterday at the deputy mayor of Sofia Municipality. The subsidy of the parties should be tied to donations attracted, where we are strong - we publicly attract by declaring to the Audit Chamber."
The leader of "Yes, Bulgaria" recalled that there are changes in the Public Procurement Act and his proposal was for more transparency and open data.
"If we take up the issue of corruption, how to fight it, there are two ways.
One is a working criminal justice system, the prosecutor's office should investigate every case and the fear of the law will be there. The second is to limit the risks of corruption and right-wing policies are the only ones that are relevant", Bojanov recommended.
Regarding the PP-DB coalition, he said:
"It is not a question of what is gained and whether anyone gains. The question is what the voters gain. The voters need clear representation. The goal of every government, like Peevski's and Borisov's, is to dismember the legitimate part of the opposition."
Bozhanov shared that the vote of no confidence in the government, as a tool, is devaluing. And he stated that this series of votes does not show any alternative.
"We maintain our opinion that at the earliest in September there would be conditions and grounds for a vote of no confidence, where we will also show an alternative. And we will show that if the vote is successful, how we will govern the country," Bozanov is convinced.
