The Anti-Corruption Commission is conducting an operation at the Ministry of Energy, NOVA learned. There are also police around the institution's building in the center of the capital.
Meanwhile, agents from the Anti-Corruption Commission and the police have entered the offices of "Bulgargaz" and "Bulgartransgaz", BNT learned.
The reason for the operation is currently unclear, but it is probably related to the investigation into the unprofitable gas supply deal with the Turkish company "Botas".
Every day our country pays 1 million and 50,000 leva. for gas supply, which, however, it does not use in practice. The contract for a period of 13 years was concluded in 2023 by the caretaker government of Rumen Radev with Prime Minister Galab Donev. In 2024, the parliament submitted a report to the prosecutor's office and requested an investigation into the unprofitable deal concluded during the mandate of the caretaker Minister of Energy Rosen Hristov by the then head of "Bulgargaz" Denitsa Zlateva.
