Plamenka Dimitrova is the person who filed a report against the mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, for which he was detained. She is the owner of the company from which a 15 percent bribe was asked to win a public procurement contract for nearly 1.5 million leva.
„This amount was asked of me in order to win the public procurement contract. In addition, I was told that I had to prepare to give additional funds, the amount of which would be communicated to me later. They were going to help the political party that Mayor Blagomir Kotsev and the municipal councilors belong to,” she said on NOVA.
According to her, this conversation took place almost 7-8 months ago. She immediately turned to the prosecutor's office and the anti-corruption commission, which “during that time worked on her signal.” “I turned to them because I was told that a high-ranking person from a political party expected me to be more flexible and faster,” she explained.
She added that she had had a conversation with Kotsev and a municipal councilor. “Personally, in a conversation with me, the mayor confirmed that he was familiar with this whole scheme.”
She also commented on the photo that appeared in the media, in which her employees were photographed with GERB leader Boyko Borisov. "I am calm and I do not feel used for political purposes. It is incorrect to use such photos, because my company has been operating since 1991. We have served more than one political party during this time. We have served prime ministers, presidents, delegations that have arrived in Varna", she explained.
And she was categorical that this photo from 2015 has not been deleted from her company's social media profile. And she emphasized that in this particular photo - she is not even present.
Meanwhile, the investigation against Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev and the other detainees in Varna. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation against the four for crimes in office, bribery and money laundering.
On Wednesday, the detainees were taken out of the district administration, where they were arrested, to be brought to Sofia. The Burgas prosecutor's office and police are not working on this case, but the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, due to the fact that among those arrested there is a person with immunity. Among those detained - in addition to the mayor of Varna - are also the councilors from the Public Prosecutor's Office Nikolay Stefanov and Yordan Kateliyev, as well as Ivaylo Marinov, who is the partner in the company that won the public procurement contract, which became the catalyst for what happened in our seaside capital.
At the same time, a demonstration began in Varna in support of Kotsev, which turned into a procession from the municipality building to the Courthouse. Citizens also gathered in Sofia to declare that the actions of the investigative institutions towards the Varna mayor are ostentatious and aimed at political repression.
