„With what is happening in the ranks of the PP, there will definitely be a shift in the layers. In my opinion, there is a future for a new right-wing coalition between parties other than GERB, other than the PP-DB, which for me is more of a liberal formation than a right-wing one ”.
This was stated to NOVA NEWS by Bozhidar Lukarski, the former leader of the UDF.
Regarding the PP-DB coalition, Lukarski expects a split. „With everything that is happening - the corruption scandals and the total collapse of the PP, I think that the sane people in the DB have some vision that will lead to a split. Yesterday's vote of no confidence is a signal of this. We see statements from key leaders in the DB that things are continuing, that they support their coalition partners, but they don't sound convincing”, commented Lukarski.
If he were in parliament, he himself would have voted “against” yesterday's vote of confidence, because, in his opinion, the government is doing well. “There are ministers who are doing excellently, there are ministers who are doing well and ministers who are not doing well”, said Lukarski.
Asked how he assesses Delyan Peevski's role at the present moment, Lukarski said: “This party supports Bulgaria's European path at the present moment. With all their pluses and minuses, with all the accusations against them, at the moment they appear as a pro-European party, which they were not when I was active in politics”.
