Regardless of whether someone is guilty or not – the problem is in the procedures. They are being trampled on. This was told to NOVA NEWS by the deputy from „We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” Alexander Simidchiev.

He pointed out that jurisdiction is being manipulated, judges are being chosen „out of convenience“, and the process seems to be a foregone conclusion.

In his words, „Yes, Bulgaria“ and the partners from „We Continue the Change“ perceive the actions of the institutions as an attempt to concentrate power and repress the opposition. That is why diplomatic missions, including the German ambassador and representatives of France, Great Britain and the Netherlands, were informed about the protests and were present in person to observe what was happening.

Simidchiev admitted that the proposals to expand the powers of the Anti-Corruption Commission were supported by “Democratic Bulgaria“, but with the clear idea that there would be constitutional mechanisms for control.

“When the superstructure is removed, only the repressive instruments remain – and they are used selectively”, the MP warned.

He announced that he was starting a petition for the removal of the chairman of the KPKONPI Anton Slavchev and would seek support from all parties, including part of the ruling majority. No cooperation is expected from Vazrazhdane – According to Semichev, they act in sync with GERB, providing political comfort in parliament.

„Yes, Bulgaria“ has not yet decided whether to support the next vote of no confidence, but insists that it be based on a strong, well-reasoned thesis.

„The vote is not PR, but a signal - either you correct your behavior or you leave“, said Semichev.

Regarding possible early elections, he commented: „They are very likely. But the question is not with whom we will govern, but in the name of what. Without judicial justice, neither healthcare nor education can be improved“.
