We, as a party, have nothing in common, nor do we support or comment on court decisions. This was stated by GERB leader Boyko Borisov during the meeting of the party's youth organization in Plovdiv.
In his statement, Borisov also recalled the arrests from 2020, when he, as well as Sevdalina Arnaudova and Vladislav Goranov, were detained, calling these actions "illegal".
"Then the independent court ruled. Now, in the case of Varna, we have two decisions - from the court. For me, the mayor of Varna is innocent until the court rules," Borisov said. According to him, the topic of corruption is no longer openly discussed in the capital.
"Someone, like a knife, cut off the topic of Sofia from journalists. Neither the mayors nor the municipal councilors in Sofia defend themselves. Petkov resigned for this topic, this is recognized corruption", Borisov said.
"What have we done to be cited in the squares? Have we arrested anyone in Sofia or Varna? These are the responsibilities of other institutions. Have we said who to detain or release? Everyone knows that we are not guilty of such a thing", he also stated.
The GERB leader also thanked the organizers of the event, assuring that the party will continue to work and fight not only on the topics presented at the forum, but also on all important topics for the country.
"From the center to the right, there is no one else but GERB. All other parties have entered the left, into the sphere of populism, and if we do not stand as an anchor of the state," said Borisov.
