The commitments we have fulfilled are those made by Bulgaria under the PVP, when Kiril Petkov was holding the pen at the time. And now to be criticized for implementing each of the measures in the way they envisaged them, with the approval of the EC is a bit like "why are you wearing a hat - why are you without a hat". This was said by the Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev in connection with the debates surrounding the Commission for Combating Corruption, reported by BTA.

He recalled that the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) was renegotiated and rewritten by the Petkov government in the field of energy and justice, and over the past seven months all the envisaged anti-corruption measures and reforms have been adopted. Georgiev noted that their adoption is a requirement for the second and third payments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

We adopted the anti-corruption laws, improved them, communicated with Brussels so that we know that they meet the requirements, said Minister Georgiev regarding the anti-corruption commission.

He commented on the PP-DB thesis that it is a problem for the members of the Commission for Combating Corruption to be elected by a simple majority, but noted that there is a legal and political argument for this. The legal one is that there is a decision of the Constitutional Court, according to which deputies cannot set larger majorities when electing regulators. And the political one is that in January deputies from the PP-DB made the same proposal, which was already adopted by the parliament regarding the majority.
