Haralan Alexandrov: Radev threatens, imposes veto, but nothing comes of his actions - 1

The president attacks the overall stabilization of the government and the accelerated move towards the eurozone. I had higher expectations for this man, but he defined himself as the leader of a fierce opposition, aligned himself with the political leaders who sabotage the government. This was said in the program "The Day Live" on Nova News by social anthropologist Haralan Alexandrov in connection with the actions of the head of state Rumen Radev in recent months.

When there is finally a well-assembled, well-functioning and well-motivated government, there is a governing coalition that supports the great transformation in Bulgaria – entry into the eurozone, all this caused great anxiety, bordering on panic, among anti-European forces, added Alexandrov.

Since the European Union has been in a leadership crisis for a long time, Bulgaria already has well-fertilized soil for a powerful anti-European project. In this sense, this fierce competition among the opposition anti-European parties is completely understandable, because whoever manages to fight for leadership will most likely have a glorious political future, the social anthropologist said.

Asked about the frequent use of the words "for the people" recently in Bulgarian politics, especially by the leader of "DPS-New Beginning" and President Rumen Radev, Haralan Alexandrov pointed out: "Populism is part of the deep democratic tradition. Currently, there is such a president in the USA. In this context, populism is on the rise and this will be the trend in politics in the coming years. At the moment, there is nothing more tempting than being such a leader. This is bad news for liberal parties and a huge risk for societies around the world ".

As for Radev and Peevski, there is a dramatic difference, because Radev threatens, imposes vetoes, but nothing comes from his actions, he is politically helpless, while Peevski's words are not empty incantations – whatever he says, happens, the social anthropologist emphasized.

He also commented on the disputes surrounding Peevski's proposal to close the Anti-Corruption Commission.

The desire of "Continuing Change-Democratic Bulgaria" to exercise political repression led them to invent some body with such a purpose, which they could control. They lost control of it and that is why they are now attacking it. The dilemma at the moment is what we will choose - to keep this body and take the money or to give it up. Peevski is clearly tired of being accused of being a villain and that is why he proposed the closure. With this, he put "Continuing Change-Democratic Bulgaria" before a difficult choice - whatever they do, it is still bad for them. They are in an extremely difficult position - all their tools are worn out or broken and do not give results, Aleksandrov also said.
