Meglena Plugchieva on "Shops for the People": This is a temporary solution with a populist flavor - 1

The creation of "Shops for the People", together with the Law on Combating Speculation, setting a ceiling on markups, on prices - these are all solutions that do not correspond to the market economy. This was commented on by diplomat and former Deputy Prime Minister for European Funds Meglena Plugchieva in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".

"In other countries, financial assistance is provided to the socially disadvantaged, and in our country we are implementing non-market measures. I hope that this "Shops for the People" solution will yield results, I am skeptical. Economists, financiers are highly suspicious that it will work. This is a temporary solution with a populist flavor," Plugchieva said.

In her words, the changes due to the euro oppose the state to business and a priori it is considered that this is a criminal act on the part of business.

"In other countries, when they adopted the euro, they included business to be complicit, to prevent speculation with prices. Business representatives were included, not isolated or opposed to the state," Plugchieva gave an example on the air of Bulgaria ON AIR. The first such will open its doors in the fall in Plovdiv.

"It was supposed to be for people from small settlements, with low purchasing power. This is one of our richest cities after Sofia. Let's not forget that once domestic production has been reduced, the danger of abuse and relabeling of imported goods to be offered as domestic is great," the diplomat added.

She is convinced that the right move for the state would be to give business the opportunity to produce more. Meglena Plugchieva criticized Ursula von der Leyen for making commitments, such as investments of 600 billion, which it is not clear who will make. US tariffs burden the European economy and us.

"The EU is betting on militarization, we hear from Germany that once the automotive industry stagnates, workers will be transferred to the military-industrial complex and will produce tanks. Investments and economic development cannot be achieved with armaments," Plugchieva is categorical. The guest shared his position that when half of Bulgaria is burning and the other half is without water, it is unacceptable to talk about elections.

"Bulgaria is without water and on fire. Against this background, talking about bills for presidential elections sounds ridiculous. It is unacceptable and undignified towards the people, especially in places in the countryside, who do not have water, are burning, and at the same time to offer them and to look at them as an electoral part that has transferred from the PP to another party is undignified and must be stopped", said Meglena Plugchieva.

Her expectations are that possible elections will deepen the crisis.

In connection with the loans that the state continues to take out, she advised not to lose financial discipline and take out loans for salaries and pensions: "This is false apparent well-being that will return like a boomerang".
