Two new fires broke out in the last hours of August 7 - around Haskovo and in the Shumen plateau. The land between the Haskovo villages of Momino and Elena burned down - the fire engulfed a forest massif, dry grass and bushes. In addition to fire trucks, heavy tracked equipment was also involved in the extinguishing. There is no danger to the settlements.
According to the director of the Haskovo Fire Department, Mitko Chakalov, the situation with the two fires is calm. "Some of the fire departments from Sakar were moved between the two villages. Here the fire is burning on 1000 acres. The fire is moving deeper into the forest - along a microdam, so all versions will be checked. "We have separate outbreaks near the village of Yerusalimovo that are smoldering," he announced.
Deputy Mayor of Haskovo Municipality Dinko Tenev pointed out that a partial state of emergency has been declared near Momino. "Hundreds of acres of pastures have burned, as well as forest firewood," he explained.
Haskovo Regional Governor Stefka Zdravkova noted that damage was sustained by farmers and ranchers who were not to blame for the fires. "If a partial state of emergency is not declared, they will not be compensated, and will even face sanctions for unprotected areas," Zdravkova said on Nova TV.
The extinguishing of the active outbreaks and the fire in Sakar continues. Firefighters are working on the front line towards the village of Yerusalimovo to prevent the flames from spreading to the settlement. Although there is no longer any danger to people, the state of emergency in Dositeevo, Kolarovo and Yerusalimovo remains in force.
And the fire on the Shumen Plateau was localized shortly after it broke out. Volunteers, as well as teams from the fire departments in Shumen, Novi Pazar and Veliki Preslav, also joined in extinguishing the fire. Firefighters remained on site overnight to monitor for a new outbreak. It is assumed that the cause of the fire outbreak was human negligence.
