From January 1, 2026, all post offices in settlements without bank branches will start exchanging levs for euros. This was announced by the head of the regional post office Svetoslav Godchev on bTV from the post office in the village of Kolartsi, Tervel district.
The exchange will have a daily limit of up to 1,000 levs per person, and in 954 larger stations of the “Bulgarian Posts“ network it will be possible to exchange up to 10,000 levs per day upon prior request between 3 and 5 days. A full list of these stations is published on the website of “Bulgarian Posts“ – www.bgpost.bg.
2,230 post offices prepared for the new service will operate in the country, and over 3,000 postal employees will undergo training by the end of October.
In view of the expected increased cash flow, additional security measures will be introduced at the sites, including high-resolution video surveillance and alarm systems. The post offices work in close cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, private security companies and local municipalities.
The service will be available only in settlements where there are no banking or financial institutions, Godchev specified.
