The child who was electrocuted in Varna has already been discharged from the hospital and is with his family. The incident occurred last week, while the boy was playing with his brother on a playground near the block of flats where they live.
Several inspections by the Varna Municipality of the electric poles in the area of the incident followed, the last of which did not identify any problems with the facilities.
"We were playing chase with my brother in the evening at around 8 o'clock. I just jumped over the fence in the game. However, in order not to stagger, I grabbed hold of the ladder. And he didn't let me go. I felt an electric shock inside me, it shook me very badly. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't break away. I shouted "help" several times. And after two words my voice was gone. I couldn't speak. I felt like there was no hope of me being able to breathe anymore. And suddenly the electric shock went off. Then we went home and went to the hospital," says the injured Dimitar.
Dimitar's mother found out about what had happened from his brother.
"He had his hair on end, his eyes wide with horror. He was shaking convulsively and his eyes were bloodshot. The worst thing was that he smelled like burnt human flesh. That worried me the most. His brother explained more to me than he did himself. Because Mitko spoke in slurred speech, I couldn't understand him," commented Maria Ivanova, Dimitar's mother, to BNT.
The first two checks did not show the presence of electricity on the poles.
"Because the first two checks did not show the presence of electricity on the poles, but the child was electrocuted, I decided to urgently appoint a 4-member commission, which would be from the district mayor's office, the contractor company, "Engineering Infrastructure" to a large municipality and "Population Protection", which are energy specialists to a large municipality. They toured 50 poles in the area, which were thoroughly examined. There was no electricity. Despite this, the child had a burned hand. A strange incident," said Iliya Koev, Deputy Mayor for Security in the Municipality of Varna.
