The Mayor of the “Sredets“ district Traycho Traykov revealed the damage after the tram accident in Sofia this morning.

Thank you to the teams of Emergency Assistance and Prevention, Sofia Electric Transport, the police, the Sofia Inspectorate and the workers from the construction of our kindergarten next door. The most important thing is that a sacrifice must be made that in all this disaster and destruction, we escaped without a scratch!
Even the crushed tree may survive. Many details about the incident are already clear, which the prosecutor's office has asked not to share for now. However, we expect that when the entire puzzle is sorted out, there will be complete transparency in the case, so that all lessons can be learned and applied in practice, all those responsible will be punished and all damages will be covered. The colleagues from the region, whom I assigned to start work on restoring the damaged infrastructure, are already working.
The entrance to the underpass that greeted the flying trains is like after a bomb hit - shattered concrete, torn reinforcement, crushed granite slabs. And it's a good thing that it was there to protect the apartment block in the immediate vicinity. From the nearest apartments, they heard a loud rumble in the morning and it's a good thing that it didn't happen. A whole row of cars were swept away and there could have been more if the parked van had not had its steering wheel turned to the right.
The little devil was on today's second of September, but this was not a natural disaster, but caused by human stupidity and irresponsibility, this is our big problem."
