The first seminar of the International Program for the Expansion of Educational Exchange in the Protection of Immovable Cultural Heritage will meet architects from France and 4 Black Sea countries – Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and Bulgaria, from March 26 to 29 in Balchik.
The hosts are the National Institute for Immovable Cultural Heritage and the Chaillot School - Paris, which have been partners for 20 years in the specialized Chaillot course in Bulgaria. The forum takes place with the support of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and the French government.
The seminar will create the framework for future cooperation in the Balkans. The Bulgarian and French experts will talk about the experience and projects of the course, as well as the methodology of the Chaillot School – one of the most authoritative in the field of conservation. The graduates of the Bulgarian course are more than 140 architects, among whom there are designers from Serbia and North Macedonia. Architects from Romania, Moldova and Ukraine will present their experience in education and preservation of cultural monuments.
Balchik was chosen as the venue for the meeting because of its architectural and historical heritage from the 19th and 20th centuries. Part of the forum will be held on the ground in the city and its surroundings, in the resort “Albena” and in the Romanian resort of Eforie. Potential sites will be identified for the experimental workshop in the autumn, the focus of which will be the development and general trends in seaside resort architecture in the region.
