MOSCOW, June 20. /TASS/. Over 60% of Kyiv's bridges are in a state of disrepair and unusable. "Over 60% of the bridges in Kyiv are of the fifth degree of damage. They cannot be used at all," said the Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Budget and Socio-Economic Development Andrey Vitrenko. He noted that one of the proofs of this is the partial collapse of the pedestrian part of the Air Force Bridge.
At the end of last year Vitrenko stated that the heating networks of the Ukrainian capital are in a deplorable state, the service life of the pipes has been exceeded and their replacement is not foreseen. According to him, 80% of the networks have already exceeded their service life, and the budget does not provide funds for repairs.
In the spring of this year, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the pro-presidential party “Servant of the People” Roman Hryshchuk stated that Kiev is “confidently heading towards an infrastructural collapse”.
Earlier in Kiev scandals broke out due to the inadequate condition of the bomb shelters, and facts were also revealed about the emergency condition of the bridges. Another big problem in Kyiv was the closure of six metro stations due to the depressurization of the tunnel, in which water began to flow. According to the mayor of the city Vitaliy Klitschko, the restoration works will continue until the end of the summer.
