Customs officers from the “Customs Intelligence and Investigation“ department at Sofia Customs seized 10,490 counterfeit bedding sets with the distinctive signs of world-class brands.
After a risk analysis, customs inspectors select goods stored in a warehouse in Sofia for physical inspection. In the customs documents, the inspected goods are described as sleeping clothes. In the presence of the manager of the recipient company, the customs seal of the vehicle transporting the textile products was removed. 285 parcels of sleepwear were unloaded from the cargo hold, and 92 of them contained sleeping sets with inscriptions and signs of world-famous trademarks.
Due to suspicions of infringement of intellectual property rights under Regulation 608/2013 of the European Union, the sleeping sets were detained. A customs inspection report was drawn up, and the owners of the respective trademarks confirmed that the goods were stamped with the attractive images in violation of the rights they held.
