A woman stole nearly 200 leva from an Orthodox church in Ruse in the presence of her child. The crime was captured by the church's cameras. Although the police have identified the perpetrator, the money has not yet been returned, BNT reported.
The theft was committed during the day, while the church of “St. Archangel Michael“ in Ruse was open to the laity. The footage was published on social networks with an appeal for the woman to return the stolen goods and caused a wave of indignation.
The priest from the church manages to talk to the woman on the phone. At first, she promised to return the money, but then began to deny that she had stolen it. An hour later, uniformed officers identified the perpetrator — 38-year-old woman, who also has other criminal activities.
Chief Insp. Kaloyan Zanev, Head of the “Criminal Police“ Sector – Second District – Ruse: “She accompanied her colleagues from the Second District – Ruse, where she made a full confession. She repented for what happened and stated that she would restore the damage caused. The amount she stole was 190 leva. It has not been returned at the moment.“
A case has been filed with the police and an investigation is underway. After its completion, the case will be reported to the District Prosecutor's Office in Ruse.
