The topic of the triple murder in the "Petrohan" hut, around which there are still many question marks, was commented on in the program "This Saturday and Sunday" on bTV by psychologist Svetlana Dimitrova.
„At the moment, the three bodies are not interpreted clearly enough as victims of a serious crime. Rather, we are observing a shift in focus towards victimization and a search for guilt in the victims themselves,“ said Dimitrova.
According to her, the key question is not only who the perpetrator is, but what are the psychodynamics of the crime itself.
„As a professional, I am interested in how it got to this point. We are not talking about guilt, but for responsibility and for processes that probably developed for a long time“, the psychologist emphasized.
Svetlana Dimitrova was categorical that the suicide version does not hold up.
„We are talking about a demonstrative criminal murder. The data indicate that the bodies were arranged, and the situation – arranged. This is not the logic of suicide“, she said.
According to her, the manner of commission shows preliminary preparation, not an emotional outburst.
„In no case is this a matter of momentary escalation. The crime was committed deliberately, coldly, with precision and a clear scenario“, Dimitrova added.
Regarding the wanted Ivaylo Kalushev, the psychologist stated that his publicly known life and moral profile does not correspond to the profile of a perpetrator of such crime.
“This is a person with clearly expressed humanitarian causes, with a history of help and dedication. Personally, I cannot think of him as a criminal in terms of his psyche and personality“, she said.
Regarding the letter, which is allegedly written by Kalushev to his mother, Dimitrova commented: “We see a purely human reaction to fear and threat. It is not a coded message or a warning to take a life.“
According to her, the religious element that is being commented on in the public space also does not point to a ritual murder.
“Ritual murders have a completely different structure and message. There is torture, not execution. We do not see such a model here“, she said.
The psychologist also commented on the statement of Yani Makulev, the father of one of the wanted boys, which caused a public division. Makulev announced that he was calm about his 15-year-old son, who is believed to be with Kalushev.
„We are talking more about trust, not concealment. I categorically exclude the hypothesis that his behavior is aimed at protecting his child through silence“, said the psychologist.
According to Svetlana Dimitrova, the most logical explanation for why Ivaylo Kalushev and the young men are hiding is fear.
„The reason is safety. These people feel threatened. If they had confidence that the institutions could protect them, they would come forward“, she said.
