The District Prosecutor's Office in Shumen is leading the work on pre-trial proceedings for bodily harm inflicted on a man from the city by hooliganism, after which there is a danger to the life of a 54-year-old local resident, the press center of the Appellate Prosecutor's Office in Varna announced.
They specified that a 27-year-old man has been detained in the case, who is about to be held criminally liable for the crime committed on the night of April 7-8, BTA reports.
According to data from the judicial institution, the two men were in the “Grivitsa“ neighborhood in Shumen.
According to initial information on the case, they had been drinking alcohol. After tension arose between them, the younger man - T.I. - attacked the older man with blows and beat him up. Witnesses to the incident prevented the conflict from escalating and reported the incident to 112. A police team arrived at the scene and detained the 27-year-old T.I., while a medical team took the victim to a hospital.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the case, which has been reported to a prosecutor on duty at the Shumen District Prosecutor's Office. Interrogations have been conducted, expert reports have been ordered. Actions have also been taken to clarify all the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. After the expert conclusions are prepared and all witness interviews are completed, it will be assessed whether the legal qualification of the initially raised accusation needs to be changed, and the change will be made in a timely manner, the press center of the Appellate Prosecutor's Office in Varna specified.
The work on the case continues under the leadership and supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Shumen. During the additional investigation, it was clarified that the 27-year-old man, the perpetrator of the beating, is from Razgrad and is wanted by the police in the city as a defendant in a criminal case, the press center of the police in Shumen announced earlier today.
