Cyprus is shocked by the brutal murder that took place at dawn yesterday in Paphos.

The victim is a young woman, mother of two minor children.

The brutal murder took place in a residential complex in the area of Tremitusa, where mostly foreigners live. A couple from Bulgaria started arguing and things got out of control.

According to information reported by the media in the country, the woman took a knife and injured her husband, who then stabbed her and threw her out onto the street from the balcony of the apartment.

Their two minor children were not at home during the bloody fight and murder. Eyewitnesses told philenews.com that fighting, shouts and screams could be heard from the apartment of the two Bulgarians for a long time.

These witnesses said that after the fall, the woman was still alive, although apparently in a very bad condition. Some of them tried to stop her heavy bleeding with towels, but failed. The man had blood on his clothes and remained at the scene of the accident until the ambulance arrived.

Krateva was pronounced dead on arrival at Paphos General Hospital. Her husband, who was also injured, is under police guard at the hospital and is not in a critical condition.

Neighbors said they had difficulty contacting police during the altercations, which led to delays in police response. A local resident tried to call the police four times without success. Paphos Police Chief Nikos Tsapis said an investigation into the police response was underway.

Police spokesman Christos Andreu mentioned that

two knives were found at the scene of the accident, which are already part of the investigation.

Authorities revealed that the suspect had a history of domestic violence and had a warrant out for his arrest from a previous assault on Krateva.

Krateva was stabbed four times with a knife, and probable defensive wounds were also found on her hands.

Police are currently conducting a homicide investigation and details are still being worked out.

All issues related to police response times will be thoroughly investigated, Nikos Tsapis assured.
