Shocking news of police inaction by the Cypriot police has emerged in the case of the murder of 41-year-old Petya Krateva from Bulgaria in Paphos. Her 48-year-old ex-husband is considered the alleged perpetrator.

Cyprus Times has already revealed that the victim and the perpetrator have been in constant conflict recently. In fact, a few days ago an arrest warrant was issued against the perpetrator for a domestic violence incident.

Unfortunately, law enforcement on Aphrodite Island did not have time to execute, as the perpetrator was not identified.

On state radio, police spokesman Christos Andreu stated that there were three complaints from the murdered wife in total.

"The first case in this matter was a complaint in 2019, which was withdrawn in 2020 by the victim herself. The second complaint dates from March 17, 2024, when it was reported to the Family Violence Team at the Paphos Police Directorate that the victim had been assaulted by the suspect two days earlier, but in a written statement he stated that he did not wish to be sued.

Nevertheless, a criminal file was opened with the aim of handing it over to the legal service, and the last complaint was filed on June 11, when the victim filed a new complaint against the suspect who assaulted and beat her," Christos Andreu revealed.< /p>

As for the 41-year-old woman, he said that "she was asked to go to a shelter, but she refused and continued to stay in her residence.

According to Andreu, the couple has been divorced and has been living in separate homes since November 2023.

An investigating police officer is looking into allegations of negligence in the murder of a 41-year-old woman in Paphos.

The police chief has ordered an investigation to look into a citizen's complaints that his four calls to police about the brutal murder went unanswered.

The 48-year-old Bulgarian continues to be placed under guard in the hospital in Paphos.
