The court authorized the issuance of a European arrest warrant (EAW ) of Stoyan Mavrodiev. According to the magistrates, there is a real danger that the defendant will abscond or commit another crime, Nova TV reports.
Mavrodiev was brought to criminal responsibility by a decree of August 15 of this year. The crime of which he is accused is serious under the Penal Code and is punishable by imprisonment of more than 2 years. According to the law, the act has a high public danger.
Collected oral and written evidence points to the authorship of the former head of the Bulgarian Development Bank. Magistrates state that he has a clean criminal record, but despite this, he has not been found at the addresses where he lives in Bulgaria, and he had to be declared wanted.
The European arrest warrant issued to him is subject to appeal by the accused himself within 7 days. After his eventual detention, the accused will be brought before a Bulgarian court, where his detention order will again be discussed.
