A series of reports of car thefts in Varna. People in some neighborhoods of the city are very worried about vandalism and before the holidays, instead of spending money on gifts, they pay to repair broken car windows.
The “Vladislavovo“ neighborhood is one of the areas where dozens of drivers have woken up with broken windows in their cars in recent months. And it seems that the attacks are not for theft, since only small and insignificant items are missing from people's cars. However, the damage to their cars in most cases is thousands of leva, and people are demanding more control in the area.
A week ago, Plamena went to her parked car, but there she was greeted by an unpleasant surprise. “When I was getting into the car, I didn't actually see what exactly happened. I left my puppy inside and at that moment I actually saw that I had glass on the seat“, says the victim.
The glass is from the broken windows of her car. “An external battery, the rearview mirror, two reflective vests and two packets of salt are missing“, she pointed out.
After what happened, Plamena and her mother immediately called the police. “They responded very quickly. They were wonderful people, kind“, said the victim's mother, Valya Yaneva.

Although not much was stolen from the car, the damage to the car will be expensive. “Approximately up to 1500 - 2000 leva, it also depends on the mechanics what they will charge us, even though the car has full auto insurance. There are things that are not included with the car and that the insurance does not cover“, explained Yaneva.
However, it turns out that this is not the only damaged car in the area. And while Varna residents claim that they are becoming victims more and more often and find their cars broken into, the Ministry of Interior reports a decrease in this type of crime. “A total of 146 signals have been received on the territory of the Ministry of Interior Directorate - Varna from January 1 of this year to the present. The trend is a decrease in this type of crime, in the long term. Accordingly, to our joy, the detection rate of this type of crime has also increased“, announced the head of the Third Regional Department of the Ministry of Interior in the city Hristo Hristov.
Due to the raids in the neighborhood, however, the Ministry of Interior is tightening control in the area. “We have increased the presence, the tangible presence of uniformed officers. Specialized police forces also came to our aid on the territory of the 3rd regional department. As well as municipal police officers. Separately, in the evening, officers of the “Criminal Police“ go out, who are civilians and in unbranded cars, so that we have a better result. It is difficult to stop the commission of these crimes 100%, but we are trying to achieve what we can with the available forces and means“, added Hristov.

They also recall the penalties provided for by the law: “Which states that whoever destroys or damages another person's movable or immovable property is punished with imprisonment for up to 5 years and a financial sanction of up to 2,000 leva. For minor cases, the imprisonment is up to 6 months, and the fine is from 100 to 300 leva.“, he noted.
Despite everything, however, the residents of the neighborhood doubt that the raids will stop. “Okay, the police catch them. What happens after that? Why are we reaching a dead end and those two or three who are committing atrocities throughout “Vladislavovo“ are again at large?“, asked the victim.
