The District Court in Haskovo permanently remanded in custody 17-year-old Ivan Kostov, accused in the murder of 18-year-old Magdalena Ruseva, bTV reports.
He was brought to court with his face hidden and a hood, but in handcuffs. His detention order is being considered behind closed doors, as he is a minor.
The young man refused to speak to our team, he hardly spoke in the courtroom either. He did not say that he regretted what he had done, said the supervising prosecutor.
Today's court ruling can be appealed or protested within three days before the Court of Appeal - Plovdiv.
Ivan Kostov is accused of murder, committed in a particularly cruel manner. He could receive a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison, as he is a minor.
The prosecution requested his permanent detention, as according to the supervising prosecutor there is sufficient evidence collected that he committed the crime, including the fact that the young man made a confession.
The accused in the murder of 18-year-old Magdalena Ruseva in Haskovo threw away her clothes and sent messages to her phone to try to create an alibi for what happened, prosecutor Pavel Zhekov revealed.
„He showed sufficient resourcefulness even in the early hours of the day to try to hide the body far from the place where he was staying, to hide the victim's phone, to throw away the weapon of the crime, which has not yet been found“, he said.
According to The prosecutor's office believes that these circumstances indicate that there is a real danger that the accused will abscond or commit a crime.
