Customs officers from the Territorial Directorate of Customs Ruse detained 74,519 textile products and bags with global brand names due to suspicions of infringement of intellectual property rights. The "branded" goods were discovered during a customs inspection of a truck.
On 01.07.2025, on the Vidin ring road in the direction of Romania, a freight train with a foreign registration was stopped by customs officers. The driver, a Turkish citizen, presented documents that he was transporting parcels of textile products from Turkey to Germany. The vehicle was selected for a thorough customs inspection, which was carried out at the Vidin Customs Bureau. During the control actions, the inspectors established that 285 of the declared parcels contained clothing and bags with the designations of world-famous brands. A total of 74,519 items were identified, including sports teams, T-shirts, blouses, trousers, bags, socks, underwear, etc. with logos of luxury brands.
The“Branded“ goods were detained in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 608/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of intellectual property rights. The owners of the respective trademarks will be notified of the case.
The inspection is part of the compensatory measures of the “Customs“ Agency in connection with the abolition of border control at the internal borders of the EU after Bulgaria's admission as a full member of the Schengen area.
