For the fourth consecutive year, the Workshop ELENOV festival brings together established names from theater and cinema with the young generation to provide an opportunity for adolescents to find their mentor in art.
Within three days with free admission, numerous art workshops for improvisation, theater, dramaturgy, acting will be held.
The festival will be held from June 20 to 22 at two locations in Sofia –
- at the "KABANA" cinema - National Palace of Culture
- at Geo Milev Park
The fourth edition of the festival is subordinated to the vision of encouraging young people to replace aggression with creativity, to move away from injuries - physical and emotional - and to find themselves through art, dialogue and empathy. The program is built according to the vision of Workshop ELENOV’25 to be a space in which teenagers discover the power of creativity and empathy - a world in which aggression gives way to creation, and injuries are healed through art and communication. The Elenov Foundation dreams of a world in which young people choose to create instead of destroy, to express themselves instead of hurt themselves. We believe that creation is the most powerful weapon against aggression.
This year, the free trainings will be led by both famous and already established students of Dimitar Elenov - Delyana Hadzhiyankova and Anthony Penev, both from the Satire Theater: as well as the young artists Sevar Ivanov and Hristiana Stoimenova, who, despite their young age, are already lecturers at the UNWE and NBU.
New this year is the choreographic workshop with Marlena Todorova - soloist at the Musical Theater. Contemporary art and its provocation will also be present in the festival program through art performances by several youth troupes based on Shakespeare's texts – “Much, Much Love“, where viewers will be surprised by a wacky mix of cult lines from various plays by the bard. And let's add the art performance based on texts by Gianni Rodari from the Dimitar Elenov acting studio“.
This year, sign language translation will also be provided during the festival, so that those from vulnerable groups or children with specific needs can also participate.
Education through art from early childhood has been the life mission of actor Dimitar Elenov, who has been teaching and educating young people for more than 40 years. The festival dedicated to him aims to continue his work by providing three days filled with opportunities to develop the potential of young people. Each child will also receive a certificate for their participation. The event is realized with the support of the Sofia Municipality, and the media partners are BNT and BNR.
After the end of the festival, a fifteen-day acting camp using the Dimitar Elenov method will begin on July 1. More information at www.dimitarelenov.bg
