American Airlines employees found the body of a passenger without a ticket hidden in the undercarriage of the plane, CBS News reported.
According to the media, the plane arrived at Charlotte International Airport from Europe. The body was discovered by the aircraft's maintenance personnel. Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene determined the man was dead.
“We are deeply saddened by this news and will provide the necessary support to the police in their investigation“, an airport spokesperson told CBS News.
The airline is cooperating with the investigation. CBS News points out that this is at least the second time in 2025 that bodies of stowaways have been found on American airline flights. In January, officials at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport found two bodies of passengers hidden in the landing gear compartment.
