Hundreds of residents and guests of the Simitli village of Brezhani joined the chestnut festival, BNR reported.
The event was also attended by MP Stefan Apostolov, the mayor of Simitli municipality Apostol Apostolov, the mayor of Brezhani Petyo Borisov, mayors of settlements in Simitli, guests from the Republic of North Macedonia and from all over Bulgaria.
The rich program began with a culinary exhibition, in which the women of the village of Brezhani presented various dishes with chestnuts. On stage, in the center of the village, the Ensemble "Gaitan", the Male Folklore Group "Kabadalii", "Pirinsko troyche" and Yordan Nikolov, amateurs from Brezhani, folk song ensemble at the community center "Dobri Voynikov 1856" - Shumen, Children's and Youth Folklore Ensemble "Pirinska Kitka" - Blagoevgrad, Ensemble at the Cultural Center "Gotse Delchev" from the town of Delchevo, Republic of North Macedonia and the Puhi Orchestra.
A day before the climax, the film by cinematographer Stanislav Ivanov about the "living" treasure of Brezhani "Baba Raina - the fire of traditions" was screened. After the screening, authentic over 100-year-old traditional costumes from the Rakitna and Brezhani regions were presented, created by collector Iliyan Atanasovski from Simitli.
The holiday in Brezhani turned into a real joy for young and old, and the air smelled of the symbol of that day - the chestnut.
