Actor Rupert Grint, who became famous for his role as Ron in the Harry Potter films, expressed his support for the young cast playing the same role in the new series based on the books of J. K. Rowling, reports Daily Mail.
The 37-year-old British actor shared his thoughts on the new film adaptation of the story that once made him famous. The series will feature new actors playing the iconic trio, whose names were recently revealed. Alastair Stout will play Ron, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione, and Dominic McLaughlin will play the most important role - he will bring Harry Potter to life.
Grint admitted that before starting work on the series, he wrote a letter to Alastair Stout expressing his support for the young actor. "I just wished him all the best," he wrote. "I had a lot of fun stepping into this world, and I hope he has fun too," he said.
He added that he felt it was a good idea to spend the rest of his life in Ron's shadow because the films mean so much to people.
"I don't think I'll ever get out of his shadow, but I'm okay with that," the actor said.
Grint was just 11 years old when he was cast as Ron Weasley. Filming took place between 2000 and 2011.
Grint is currently looking to step away from his famous role, but when asked if he would like to play Ron again, like his co-star Tom Felton did with Draco Malfoy in the Broadway musical, he replied: "Never say never."
