American architect Frank O. Gehry has died in California at the age of 96, The New York Times reported, citing his representative Megan Lloyd.
Gehry is one of the most influential architects of our time, considered the founder of deconstructivism in architecture.
He died on December 5 at his home in Santa Monica, California. Lloyd reported that his death occurred as a result of a short-term respiratory illness.
Gehry designed the “Dancing House“ in Prague (1995), the “Guggenheim“ museum in Bilbao (1997) and the “Louis Vuitton“ foundation in Paris (2014). Other projects include the Frederick Weisman Museum in Minneapolis (1993), the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (2003), the New World in Miami (2011), and the Pierre Boulez Hall in Berlin (2017).
