Stolz takes second title with Olympic record in 500-meter speed skating - 1

American Jordan Stolz won the Olympic title in the men's 500-meter speed skating tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympics and is now a two-time champion in Milan-Cortina, BTA reports. Just three days earlier, the 21-year-old athlete also triumphed in the 1000 meters, and in both disciplines he did it with a new Olympic record.

Canadian Laurent Dubreuil was the first to improve the Olympic record in the tenth heat, stopping the clocks at 34.26 seconds - six hundredths faster than the previous top achievement of the 2022 Winter Olympics champion Gao Tinyu. Today, the Chinese finished seventh with a time of 34.47 seconds.

The climax came in the 13th heat, where favorites Stolz and Jennings de Boe faced each other. The American, the 2023 world champion in the distance, finished in an impressive 33.77 seconds and grabbed his second gold of the Games. The Dutchman was 11 hundredths behind him and won the silver, while Dubreuil took the bronze medal.

This is the fifth title for the United States at Milano-Cortina 2026, with speed skating becoming the first discipline to bring more than one gold to the American team.
